For us in France, Lip is no ordinary brand. It is known all over the country for many reasons, and for many reasons it reminds people of their childhood, their political commitments and inevitably, their watches. When in 1807 M.Lippmann offered a pocket watch to Napoleon, he probably didn’t know that this would be the first line of Lip’s history. Since that day, the Lippmann family expanded the business and naturally became the biggest French manufacture. Naturally because Lip always pushed boundaries in every domain, they mastered the very complex spiral production, they boosted their sales by giving shares of the company to the retailers, they equipped well known french explorers in Himalaya, they employed young designers to create revolutionary watches, they set commercial agreements with Breitling, Blancpain and when the quartz crisis struck, Lip’s name was associated with one of the biggest social conflicts in the seventies in France.

Lip is much more than a simple watch manufacture, as the leading company in French watchmaking, it also a part of our history, a brand that gave all of us a reason to remember it.

This chronograph is a fantastic example of Lip’s production in the sixties, while some brands always cared to keep the same designs, Lip was pushing forward. With a multi textured grey, orange black and white dial this chronograph; is just a magnificient watch. Powered by a reliable Valjoux 7733 it is the perfect combo for a unusual sporty chronograph. Being the rarest chronograph of the production it is a true rarebird in comparison to the now more common socalled « Paul Newman », « Ninja » or « Racing ».

In an almost NOS condition, this is a ultra collector watch.
