Launched in 1946 by H.Wilsdorf (Rolex’s founder and CEO) Tudor started from a great idea : offering the reliability and toughness of a Rolex watch at a lower price. While Rolex was limited in its production because they were manufacturing their own movements, Tudor was able to use the same cases but more common and widely produced movements. The brand then started to make its own designs and is now recognized for their own products and not their affiliation with Rolex.

Here is the most coveted Tudor chronograph of all, along with its brother the reference 7031 (with a bakelite bezel) the 7032 or « homeplate » is the first ever Tudor chronograph. Equipped with a modest yet efficient Valjoux 7734 its beauty lies in its dial and case. Being the first Tudor chronograph, it had to be equipped with a similar case than the Rolex Daytona, however it also had to be different, it is why its case is a pumped up version of its Rolex cousin, at 40mm it offers a well charismatic presence on the wrist. The dial also is quite interesting, with an alliance of grey, black, white and orange it has a real vintage look straight from the late sixties, early seventies. It is also the inspiration for all of the re-edition chronographs Tudor has produced lately. It is Tudor’s legendary chronograph.
